How the pages are made

We would rather date a limit than decorate it.

What a guide is for

Each guide should be usable on its own. A reader who opens only the freight page, or only the winter page, should leave with a practical distinction: which charging system applies, which date range covers tyres, where a motorway is still interrupted. Pages are not written to fill a quota, and they are not written to route a person toward a purchase. There is nothing on this site to buy.

Sources we lean on

Speed tables and the structure of the vignette and toll follow the Bulgarian government information page on national traffic rules. That page has carried an update mark of 21 June 2021 for some of its figures, and we say so when we rely on it. Price notes for 2026 follow a public notice of the toll operator, again with the date. Motorway gaps follow public reporting, including government decisions and ministerial statements in 2026. A statement that a road might be finished in 2030 is reported as a statement, not as an open road.

We do not copy long passages from those sources. We paraphrase, and we link out so a reader can leave bgtol and read the source. Those links are not endorsements, and the destinations are not operated by us.

What we will not claim

We do not present this site as a public authority. We do not describe a route as certain, free of risk, or superior to another. We do not invent a test, a certificate, or a reader quote. Photographs are stock illustrations. Captions say they are not named Bulgarian roads. If a photograph contains a place name from another country, that name is not a recommendation.

Corrections and outside pressure

Write to [email protected] with the page address, the sentence, and the public source you are looking at. If the correction is material, we change the page and the updated date. We do not take payment for a mention, and we do not publish a sponsored route in the voice of a guide. A company that disagrees with a sentence can write with a source, the same as anyone else.

Legal limits of the reading are in the disclaimer. The publisher’s identity is on the about page.

Order of trust

What outranks this website.

  1. 1

The sign, the person directing traffic, and the light in front of the vehicle. A paragraph here never wins that argument.

  2. 2

The current text of the Road Traffic Act and the government information that quotes it. Our speed table is a paraphrase of a public table, with the date we relied on. If the Act moves, the Act is right and we are late until we change the page.

  3. 3

Operator notices for fees and for the charged network. A 2021 kilometre total stays labelled as 2021. A 2026 price notice stays labelled as that notice. We do not smooth them into “current prices” without the date.

  4. 4

Ministerial and government statements about future openings. They are quoted as statements. Pavement you can drive is a different fact, and we do not convert one into the other.

  5. 5

This publication. Useful for orientation, dated, and willing to be corrected at [email protected]. It is not a source an authority has to follow, and it is not a source you should follow against the four rows above.
