The pages themselves
Accessibility
Published · Updated
bgtol is a reading site. A person should be able to reach an article with a keyboard, hear a sensible structure from a screen reader, and stop motion that the system has asked to stop. We work toward that. We do not hold a conformance certificate, and we do not claim that every page meets every criterion of WCAG 2.2.
What you can rely on
- One skip link at the start of each page, to the content.
- The menu, the guide list, and the cookie choice work from the keyboard. The mobile menu is a disclosure element, so it works with scripting off.
- The article text, the disclaimer, and the contact details are in the HTML, not painted in by a script.
- Pictures that carry meaning have a text alternative. Decorative marks are hidden from assistive technology.
- If the system asks for less motion, the entrance animation is not applied.
- The language of the pages is English, marked in the document.
Known limits
Some pages use a large heading and an asymmetric grid. On a small screen the grid becomes a single column, but a wide table of speed limits still scrolls inside its own box. Schematic signs are simplified and are explained in text beside them; do not treat the drawing as the only form of the message. Focus styles depend on the browser honouring focus-visible. We have not commissioned an audit.
Tell us about a barrier
Write to [email protected] with the page address, what you were trying to do, and the browser or assistive tool if you know it. A privacy-related access request can go to [email protected]. We read these on business days. We cannot promise a particular repair date, and we will not pretend a problem is fixed before it is.
